Following Jesus 64

Vision refers to an aspirational, ambitious, hopeful and motivated description of what you would like to achieve or accomplish in the mid-term or long-term future. It is intended to serve as a clear guide for choosing current and future courses of action. In short, your vision is what you want to achieve or accomplish. It is your goal(s). 
 
I Peter 4:7-11 says, “The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:7-11 ESV)
 
We glorify God by understanding the times in which we live.  Vs. 7a.  “The end of all things is at hand.” The word “end” refers to termination, consummation, a goal achieved and/or a result attained. In the context, it refers to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth. This end of all things is at hand. In other words, it is near. 
 
I recently came across an article from a pastor from North Carolina. It regarded the imminent return of Christ and how followers of Jesus are to live in this knowledge. He made four observations pertaining to understanding the times in which we live and how we many glorify Christ in light of His imminent return.  They are as follows:
  1. Having spiritual alertness to share the gospel. We may not have many more opportunities to communicate the gospel, to forgive and to repent.
  2. Having a missional urgency. Have proper priorities and rearranging our priorities when they are lining up with God’s Word. 
  3. Displaying a forgiving spirit. God will set things right. Knowing that this year I will hurt someone, and someone will hurt me, I need to be willing to forgive and be willing to seek forgiveness. 
  4. Having hope in suffering. The imminent return of Jesus is good news for those who have experienced bad news. In brief, the good news of Jesus’ return is good news for all of us. Jesus is coming back and it could be today. Therefore, be hopeful even in the midst of your darkest night. 
By understanding the times in which we live as those days which will immediately preceded the return of Jesus Christ, let us endeavor to live in a way that glorifies the Lord of heaven and earth.
